Mindful Self-Compassion

Next class begins November 7 (See more info below.)

Do you ever feel like you are too hard on yourself? That you have a harsh self-critic inside your head that follows you wherever you go? Are you a caregiver and feeling burned out? Then this course may be very helpful for you.

Combining the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion, Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) provides powerful tools for emotional resilience. This course has been offered internationally for several years and has been enormously popular. Many people find it transforms their relationship with themselves.

The eight-session interactive class includes experiential exercises, guided meditations, discussion, home practices, a daylong retreat, and a 50-page participant handbook.

In a randomized, controlled study, the MSC program was found to significantly increase self-compassion, compassion for others, mindfulness, and life satisfaction among participants, as well as decreased depression, anxiety and stress. Improvements were linked to how much a person practiced in their daily lives.

Upcoming MSC Class: 8 Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 PM, Nov 7 to Jan 2, in person in Durham. (No class Christmas week, may extend to Jan 9 if many people will be away Jan 2.) A daylong retreat, 10am-4pm, will be on Saturday Dec 9 or 16, based on the group’s preference. A blended format (in-person sessions alternating with sessions via Zoom) may be offered to make it easier for people to attend.

Sliding scale: $200–$450, based on what you feel you can afford. I want to make my offerings as affordable as possible. Please contact me to learn more about the course or to register.
